What’s ahead of us this weekend on X-Factor

It was an emotional weekend for everybody on X-Factor – the gang performed some show stopping band tunes, Band Aid 30 was revealed for the first time, and Simon Cowell finally lost a contestant. Aired on TV3 and sponsored by DoneDeal, we take a look at all the happenings and scandals going on this week, and what’s ahead of us this weekend on X-Factor! Jay James Well it looks like Simon has finally been dealt his first blow this week, as we said goodbye to Ex-Navy crooner Jay James after an exciting sing-off with joke act Stevi Ritchie. Jay is not one to hold a grudge however, and had nothing but gushing praise for his fellow bottom two-er, saying: “I think Stevi’s so much fun and he’s such a great performer, I adore him I really do. He’s become a really close mate. When he did Phantom of the Opera he lived his dream that night, and I was backstage crying my eyes out seeing him do what he loves to do – singing like no one’s listening, dancing like no one’s watching.” There were teary eyes this week for a whole different reason too, as Band Aid 30 was revealed to the public on Sunday’s show. Band Aid organiser Bob Geldof said pre-orders for the latest version of the charity song Do They Know It’s Christmas? raised £1m within minutes of the recording being debuted on the show. The video was heart-wrenching, but carries an important message, as Bob Geldof said: “It’s harrowing, it’s not meant for an entertainment show, but we thought you ought to see it.” Simon Cowell Simon was his usual ‘honest’ self this week, slating performances left, right and centre, but it seems he has done the unspeakable and actually apologised for his harsh words! The X-Factor big boss has come out publicly to make his apologies to Lauren Platt and Andrea Faustini, claiming he “wasn’t being fair” to the pair. “I had a bad night. I had a really bad headache, I was really grumpy,” he told The Sun. Hmmm, maybe Simon is turning over a new leaf! Nicole Scherzinger and Olly Murs both dazzled us with new singles on Sunday, and this week’s show is bulking up on the celebrity performances, with David Guetta, Emeli Sandé, Labrinth and Take That all taking to the stage. The theme for Saturday night is a brand new one – Elton John VS Whitney Houston! So tune in to TV3 this weekend to catch the next live shows, on Saturday 22 November at 7.30pm and Sunday 23 November at 8.15pm.
