15% increase in Car Ads placed on DoneDeal in Q1

For the first quarter of 2017, DoneDeal, Ireland’s most popular website for buying and selling cars has seen a 15% increase in the number of car ads placed year-on-year. Over 200,000 car ads were placed on DoneDeal in the first 3 months of 2017 from both private sellers and car dealerships, a significant increase on the same period last year. The motor website recorded an average of €21 million worth of motor ads published each day in the first 3 months of 2017 – representing a total of €1.9 billion. The most popular year of car advertised among private sellers was 2006 and 2011 for car dealerships. The VW Golf was the top selling car model, representing 5.9% of the total number of cars sold followed by the Ford Focus representing 5.8% and Volkswagen Passat which represented 4.8% of the total. Commenting on the data, Cathal Cremen from DoneDeal said: “With an average of 1 car ad placed per minute, DoneDeal provides a strong indicator towards used car sales trends. For the first 3 months of the year, Volkswagen was the number one car brand advertised followed by Ford and Toyota. Over the last year we have made significant improvements to our motor section to ensure that we are delivering the best possible experience to our visitors. As a result of these improvements, an average of 41% of cars advertised on DoneDeal sell within 2 weeks.” There were 84 million car ad views on DoneDeal in the first 3 months of 2017. #Motor #MotorIndustry
