The charity pot of €37,759 has now been shared equally between December’s 3 charities: NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) St. Michael’s House Project Cumas, New Ross That’s a whopping €12,586 to each of these very deserving charities. We were delighted to get to meet representatives from each of the charities when they popped down to our offices here in Wexford earlier this week for the handing over of the cheque. Speaking at the presentation of the donation: Elaine Howley, CEO of NCBI Services said,“NCBI was delighted to be chosen to receive money from the DoneDeal Charity Month. This much-needed donation will go towards the purchase of a mini bus for our day activity centre in Wexford. Older people with vision impairments are at risk of isolation, especially those living in rural areas and a new mini bus will enable us to bring people to our centre to enjoy social activities, low vision services, training and various leisure programmes, including cooking, creative writing, photography, yoga, first aid, positive living, sports and swimming, music and craftwork.” David Dunne, Director of Operations for St. Michael’s House said, “We are very thankful for this donation from DoneDeal. Without donations like this we would be unable to maintain our community residential houses. The residents in Bettystown Avenue plan to use the funds to purchase new furnishing for their kitchen and living room and to pay for social and educational activities.” Anne Keenan, Services & Quality Manager at County Wexford Community Workshop said, “A serious flood in October 2012 gave us the opportunity to move out of a building not fit for purpose and we are now renting for the next five years.  During that time we will determine what our physical premises needs are going into the future and decide how best to meet those needs. Currently we are building up our Fund Raising reserves and this donation will go a long way towards that end. All funds raised go to spending on essential items that will enhance the quality of life of the individuals that we support.” Your DoneDeal ads make such a huge difference to all these charities, we can’t thank you DoneDealers enough! Keep placing ads to help even more charities in our next #DoneDealCharityMonth this February.
